The Visitors Oyster Card is the electronic alternative to the traditional Travelcard. It is a pre-stored value card which works by simply tapping on the yellow card readers on entering buses and trams, the underground system or train station, and tapping out when leaving the system or the final train stop.Oyster cards are available in £10, £15, £20, £25, £30, £40 and £50 pre-stored values. There is a £5 card fee on top of the pre-stored value.
Each trip will be deducted from the stored value, but there are daily caps which are calculated over a 24-hour period, covering all the journeys started between 04:30 and 04:29 the next day. When the total cost of journeys reaches a certain amount, all journeys made for the rest of the day in the same zones won't be charged. This cap will depend on the zones covered that day, and whether travel has taken place in peak time (ie. before 09h30 on a weekday).
Oyster cards don’t expire, so can be used on future trips to the city, and the value can be topped up whenever it is running low at any London underground station.
The Oyster card can be used for travel to and from Gatwick Airport by train.
PLEASE NOTE: THE VISITOR OYSTER CARD CANNOT BE RETURNED NOR REFUNDED
